Weatherization Program

The program is free for those who qualify. Priority is given to households with children, elderly, and occupants with a disability. Type, cost, and annual usage of heating fuel have a weighted priority along with annual income and participation in CAP utility payment programs and LIHEAP Energy Assistance.

Program measures include but are not limited to the following:

  • Caulking around windows
  • Repair of broken/cracked glass (no window or door replacement)
  • Air-duct sealing
  • Weather-stripping for doors
  • Insulation of attic and crawl spaces or mobile home belly
  • Wall insulation for wood-sided homes
  • Base load measures
  • Furnace safety inspection
  • Furnace repairs/replacement for homeowners only

Please note, the Weatherization Program does not remodel or rehabilitate. It is not funded to repair roofs or foundations.

Do I Qualify?

Both homeowners and renters in Beaver County are welcome to apply. A household can be eligible if the annual income is at our below 200% of the Poverty Level or if an occupant receives SSI or TANF.

Procedure

To be put on the Weatherization Program waiting list or for more information, please call us at 724-775-1200, ext. 29. You could also email us at hacbek@comcast.net or fax us at 724-630-2040.

Due to the large amount of inquiries and pre-applications, we will notify you only if your household is not eligible for the program. All eligible households remain on the Waiting List until they come to the top and are mailed a letter explaining how to complete an official application. The average wait is two years.

Upon receipt of this letter, applicants are required to provide verification of the information they disclosed on the pre-application and sign permission forms in our Housing Authority office to officially file a complete application.
