THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF BEAVER WILL BE ACCEPTING PRE-APPLICATIONS FOR THE HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM BEGINNING MONDAY, JUNE 26 THROUGH FRIDAY, JUNE 30, 2023. APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY’S CENTRAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 300 STATE AVENUE, (VANPORT) BEAVER, PA FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M.

APPLICANTS ALREADY ON A WAITING LIST FOR OTHER HOUSING PROGRAMS MUST APPLY SEPARATELY FOR THIS PROGRAM, AND WILL NOT LOSE THEIR PLACE ON OTHER WAITING LISTS WHEN THEY APPLY FOR THE HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM.

Homeowners/Occupants/Landlords throughout Beaver County may be eligible for assistance in the form of a rehabilitation GRANT/LOAN of up to $50,000.00, dependent upon household income, to effect code corrective repairs to their residences under the Beaver County Whole Home Repairs Program in conjunction with the COVID-19 ARPA Whole Home Repairs Program. Pre-Applications for the W.H.R.P may be obtained by contacting the Housing Rehabilitation Division of the Housing Authority of the County of Beaver at (724) 775-1220, extension 37, or at our office located at 300 State Street, Beaver (Vanport) PA. Pre-Applications must be received by this office no later than 4:30 P.M. on Friday, June 9th, 2023.

A lottery drawing to determine potential participants will be held at the Housing Authority of the County of Beaver, Central Office, 300 State Street, Beaver (Vanport) PA at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 16th, 2023, to determine potential LOAN/GRANT recipients. This drawing is open to the public.

The U.S. Department of Treasury’s (“Treasury”) Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program makes funding available to assist households that are unable to pay rent or utilities.

 

Tenants are urged to apply now for ERA (or ERAP) funds that will pay past due and/or future rental and utility payments.

 

To apply for ERA go to: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/Compass.Web/RAP/Application or contact the Franklin Center at 724-378-2882.

 

Be advised effective November 8, 2021 and in accordance with PIH 2021-29, Leases may not be terminated due to nonpayment of rent until at least 30 days after the tenant has been issued a Notice to Vacate.

 

Eviction procedures for matters other than nonpayment of rent remain unchanged and do not apply to this notice.

The Housing Authority of the County of Beaver will be accepting pre-applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program beginning Monday, August 9 through Friday, August 13, 2021.

Applications will be accepted at the Housing Authority’s Central Office Administration Building, 300 State Avenue, (Vanport) Beaver, PA from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Applicants already on a waiting list for other housing programs must apply separately for this program, and will not lose their place on other waiting lists when they apply for the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Coronavirus/COVID-19 Statement and Action Plan
March 27, 2020

To further do our part in slowing the spread of the Coronavirus in Beaver County, effective March 27, 2020, our Administrative Office located at 300 State Avenue, Beaver, Pa is now closed to the general public. Office staff performing executive office duties, maintenance department duties, accounting department duties, IT department duties, application intake duties, leasing duties, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program duties and Crescent Commons and CARL Program duties are still working but are limiting their interaction to the general public by mail, email or telephone. If you have rent payments or paperwork to drop off, please use the drop box that is located at the right of the entrance door from our parking lot.

Effective March 27, 2020, Staff in the Management Offices of our family and elderly developments are still working. They will no longer accept rent payments and are limiting their interaction with their residents to mail, email or telephone. Please contact your Manager or the Housing Authority’s Administrative Office if you have an emergency work order or any questions or concerns.

Residents have two options to pay their rent by either mailing their rent payment to the Housing Authority of Beaver County, 300 State Avenue, Beaver, Pa 15009 or use the online payment method on our website at www.beavercountyhousing.org.

The Housing Authority of the County of Beaver has also implemented the following actions: 

  1. Effective March 13, 2020, all Community Rooms and Centers were closed until further notice. Effective March 26, 2020, all gazeboes at our elderly developments were closed until further notice.
  2. Effective March 16, 2020, all elderly developments and family three story walk-up developments are being sanitized on a daily basis during the workweek and once on the weekend until further notice.
  3. Effective March 23, 2020, only emergency maintenance work orders will be performed.
  4. Effective March 16, 2020, evictions have been suspended until further notice unless the eviction is necessary to protect the health and safety of HACB staff and/or residents. Presently, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has suspended all Landlord/Tenant Actions until April 3, 2020 or thereafter.
  5. Effective March 16, 2020, late fees assessed for late payment of rent have been waived until further notice.
  6. Local school districts and faith based organizations are delivering or have at stated locations bagged food items for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner for school age children that reside in our family developments.
  7. Effective March 27, 2020, the Weatherization Program has suspended program activities except CRISIS.
  8. Effective March 27, 2020, the Home Improvement Program has suspended program activities.

Please practice the recommended actions of the Center for Disease Control and the Pennsylvania Department of Health in respects to social distancing, washing of your hands, the use of hand sanitizer, sneeze or cough into a tissue or your elbow, limit your travel out in the general public only for needed items such as food, medicine and gasoline for your vehicle.

As we all play our part, we can together help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus. It is important to follow the recommendations of Federal, State and Local governmental officials. Please do not congregate in your buildings, stay at home but look out for each other. It is in these trying times that we as members of our communities can rise to the occasion and do what is asked of us.

As required by HUD, all Housing Authority of the County of Beaver’s public housing units will become smoke free effective July 30, 2018.

Smoke free properties are healthier for all who live, visit and work there. Please understand, the Housing Authority of the County of Beaver is not requiring you to quit smoking, only that you will no longer be allowed to smoke in your apartment and within 25 feet of a Housing Authority of the County of Beaver owned structure. This policy will apply to all members of your household, and any guests/visitors to your apartment.
