You may decide that income-based rent is your best option. The means you’ll pay no more than 30% of your income for rent when you lease an apartment or townhouse in a HACB neighborhood. Water, sewage, grounds keeping, and refuse collection are included. In addition, HACB provides routine and emergency maintenance in every complex. If you’re responsible for paying gas or electric bills, a utility allowance will be deducted from your rent payment.

Depending on your family earnings, a fixed-rent lease in one of the HACB’s moderate-income neighborhoods may be practical choice. The monthly payment is not income-based – you can decide where you want live based on availability. If you select housing in one of these neighborhoods, you’ll pay rent plus utilities, except for water and sewage which are included in your rent payment. The only added expense is a $150 security deposit. This one-time fee, plus reasonable rent payments, take the pressure off so you can budget and save for other family needs.
